Rachael is dedicated to raising awareness and offering support within the community for premature birth, pregnancy, neonatal and infant loss.

She is a mum of 2 special needs children, Abby & Dylan. They both have Autism & ADHD and keep her on her toes. Dylan has now also been diagnosed with kidney disease.

Her first pregnancy started off trouble free. At 23wks, without any warning, she had Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) & found herself in Westmead Public Hospital on strict bed rest. On the 2nd July 2005, Abby was delivered at 26 weeks & 5 days by emergency caesarean weighing 915 grams. She spent 71 days in Westmead Hospital.

In 2008 Rachael discovered she was expecting her 2nd child. With the chances being high for a premmie baby again she was closely monitored throughout her pregnancy. In August 2009 Dylan arrived, 10 days overdue & a huge 4.16kg. Abby was now a big sister, even though she was still quite tiny herself.

Rachael found Yasminah’s Gift of Hope in November 2011 when she was looking for that special gift for her friend who had sadly given birth to her baby too soon. With her love for scrapbooking & passion for helping others, she joined the YGOH team in December 2011 as a Journal Designer.

In February 2012 Rachael joined the committee as the Volunteers Coordinator & Fundraising Coordinator. She has coordinated many fundraising events, with the Butterfly Garden Ball in August 2012 being the highlight. In November 2012 she stepped up to Vice President & continued in this role for 17mths. until she was elected President in April 2014.

Rachael understands that having a premature baby takes you on a journey you never thought you would be on & knows firsthand it continues even after you finally get to bring your baby home.
